Staxy models infrastructure with three simple things: units, providers and projects.
Units
A unit is one paid resource. Staxy ships with nine types: VPS, domain, SSL certificate, S3 bucket, database, DNS zone, email, SaaS and IP address. Each type carries fields that make sense for it — a VPS knows its CPU, RAM, disk and IP addresses; an SSL certificate knows the domain it covers; a bucket knows its region.
Every unit has:
- a price and billing period (monthly, yearly or a custom number of days);
- a next payment date — the single field the whole reminder system runs on;
- free-form tags and an optional description.
Freeze a unit when you stop paying for it but want to keep the record.
Providers
A provider is where the money goes: a registrar, a hosting company, a cloud. Units belong to providers, and the provider card shows everything you hold there.
If several units at one provider renew together (a typical registrar situation), link them into a renewal group — one date change updates the whole group.
Projects
Projects are the "what is this for" axis. A project collects units across providers, so a client project can hold a VPS from one company and a domain from another. The project page totals its spend — useful when you need to know what a side project actually costs.
IP addresses
VPS and IP units carry plain IP address lists — searchable from the global search, editable right on the unit page.
